Honoring Family Recipes on the Farm to Table Food Trailer

Writer's picture: Bridget JonesBridget Jones

Cooking has always been a big part of both of our lives. Big family dinners, usually on a Sunday, made by moms or grandmas were the heartbeat of both mine and Matt's upbringings. From books and recipes cards put together by our matriarchs, food has been woven into our family's history through these shared recipes.

When I was younger, I spent a lot of time with my grandma on my dad's side. I learned to cook, sew, and iron with her. It was my dad who loved to bake, specifically yeast breads from James Beard's Beard on Bread. I loved to watch the yeast rise and sit on the counter being "dough monsters" together while we proofed bread, or dough for pancakes.

Over the years, as Matt and I got married and had our children and began our life together, we would regularly cook recipes our parents and grandparents had passed along to us. We have church cookbooks with his mom and grandma's recipes, and I have my dad's copy of Beard on Bread. Together we made family meals that reminded us of the together times.

When we began thinking about adding a Food Trailer to the farm, and sourcing our menu, we knew honoring family recipes on the Farm to Table Food Trailer was very important to us. Here are some of the farm to table family recipes you will find at Wildberry:

Mom-Mom's award winning Zucchini Blueberry Bread

Aunt Lori's Pumpkin Bread

Bridget's Banana Bread

Mom-Mom's Mac N Cheese

You may see more family recipes show up through the season, so stay tuned!
